Just how ridiculous it is that a 5200lb, W-12-powered, all-wheel-drive luxury barge has somehow been turned into a FIA GT3-spec race car?
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! has now come that the Continental GT3 will be driven by 2011 ALMS P1 champ Guy Smith, DeltaWing pilot Andy Meyrick, and Grand-Am regular Steven Kane, and will debut at the 2013 Gulf 12 Hours at Yas Marina in December, racing against Ferraris 458's, Aston Martin Vantages, McLaren MP4-12C's, Porsche 911's, and Ford GT's. A freaking Continental with be racing Ferraris! It's like a sumo wrestler who somehow got into shape and started running half-marathons. A return to Le Mans is inevitable as well.
I for one love this car. It has absolutely no business being out on a racetrack, but dammit if Bentley won't give the rest of the field a run for its money, what with VAG's funding and organization. Can't wait for the calls, either: "And the Bentley passes the Porsche on the inside!"

There's a good chance the interior alone was probably around 50% of the total weight removed...

I can definitely believe that. The interior just looks like it's heavy. Combine that with removing all the sound-deadening and insulation and you're well on your way to the ~2800lb dry weight of the average GT3 car.

It is funny how a front of a car defines it origin. Cover the headlights and it looks a bit like an old Merc with a heavy punch on the top :D
Can't wait for the races...

That AWD system in the Continentals has got to weigh a decent amount too.
